THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GREY
These are the impressions of your 4ºESO schoolmates about the last book they have read in English: “The picture of Dorian Grey”, by Olcar Wilde. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Wilde: Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (October 16, 1854 – November 30, 1900) was an Irish playwright, novelist, poet, and author of short stories. Known for his barbed wit, he was one of the most successful playwrights of late Victorian London, and one of the greatest celebrities of his day. As the result of a famous trial, he suffered a dramatic downfall and was imprisoned for two years of hard labour after being convicted of the offence of "gross indecency."

“The picture of Dorian Gray is a very good novel, special to think about the influence of the beauty in the life of a person. Dorian’s character is a handsome man who thinks that beauty is the most important thing. Basil, a painter makes him a portrait that symbolizes the mirror of his soul. He tries to escape from his own deep down ageing, but he can’t because everybody gets older…and dies”

Dorian Gray cannot see beyond his beauty. He believes that it is the most important thing in his life. I disagree because for me the most important thing is the soul, the inside of people.

In my opinion the book of the Dorian Gray represents the inside of a person from a picture and the importance of beauty and soul.

The beauty isn’t the most important thing as Oscar Wilde’ book teaches. The story of Dorian Grey shows the society of the Victorian times. The main character is a young boy called Dorian who is constantly afraid of losing his youth and beauty. His youth is reflected in a portrait made by Basil, the creator of the picture. When Dorian destroys the picture he dies and turns into an horrible old and sick man.
